On July 28, 2023, the European Commission officially published the new EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, which came into effect on August 17, 2023. This regulation has three objectives: to strengthen the operation of the EU market for batteries (including products, processes, waste batteries, and material recycling), to promote a circular economy, and to reduce the environmental and social impacts of batteries throughout their entire life cycle.
